Summer P. Abel is a Staff Attorney practicing in the Firm’s Pharmaceutical Products and Toxic Torts & Products Liability groups. Her responsibilities include, but are not limited to, legal research and writing, analysis of information for depositions and discovery, and other tasks relating to the defense of mass tort claims in complex litigation.
Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Abel drafted pleadings in federal litigation matters, including claims of breach of contract, tortious interference, and breach of implied duty of good faith and fair dealing. She also has experience in major document review, including medical records, in civil litigation.
Ms. Abel previously practiced criminal defense as an Assistant Public Defender in Orlando. She has experience in all aspects of criminal litigation, including misdemeanor and felony jury trials. As a law student, she served as a Judicial Clerk in the Orleans Parish Criminal District Court in New Orleans.
Ms. Abel received her J.D. from Florida Coastal School of Law, where she was a Teaching Assistant and a Member of the Criminal Law Society. She graduated from the University of South Florida with a B.S. in Health Sciences and was on the Women's Cross County and Track & Field teams.
