Erica Y. Laster is a Staff Attorney practicing in the Firm’s Pharmaceutical Products and Toxic Torts & Products Liability groups. Her responsibilities include, but are not limited to, legal research and writing, analysis of information for depositions and discovery, and other tasks relating to the defense of mass tort claims in complex litigation.
Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Laster defended proposed and completed mergers before the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), including providing support to international law firms responding to DOJ subpoenas, civil investigations, and antitrust compliance. She has defended companies in proposed mergers to ensure regulatory compliance and to support internal investigations into accounting practices and payment to foreign officials for possible Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations.
Ms. Laster also previously worked in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia, serving as sole prosecutor in over thirty-five bench trials, and managing over 150 cases involving misdemeanor offenses in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Laster received her J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law and her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia. She has a Masters in International Relations from the Maxwell School of Citizenship & Public Affairs, Syracuse University.
