Firm partner Eric Lasker has been a key player in the years-long initiative to amend FRE 702. In 2018, Eric spoke on the potential amendment in a roundtable discussion sponsored by the Judicial Conference Advisory Committee on Rules of Evidence. In 2022, he testified before the Committee again in support of the proposed amendment, which was then unanimously approved by the Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure and went into effect on December 1, 2023.
Eric co-authored the article with Lawrence S. Ebner, Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Atlantic Legal Foundation, which advocates in the nation’s appellate courts for, among other things, sound science in judicial and regulatory proceedings, individual liberty, and free enterprise.
