Octavian Mitu practices in the firm’s Pharmaceutical & Medical Device, Complex Litigation, and Products Liability & Toxic Torts groups. He has worked extensively on discovery in multidistrict litigations, as well as other complex state and federal matters, including analyzing and planning a strategy for responding to written discovery requests and ensuring compliance with discovery obligations. Octavian has experience developing and implementing strategies for responding to voluminous discovery requests and answering complaints. He also routinely handles other tasks relating to the defense of mass tort claims in complex litigation, including legal research and writing. Octavian has worked on large-scale document review, including FTC/DOJ second request productions, class action litigation, and disputes in binding arbitration.
During law school, Octavian served as Law Clerk to Commissioner Sharon Y. Bowen of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission where he provided advice to the Commissioner on a broad range of proposed and final Commission rules implementing the Dodd-Frank Act. He also served as a Legal Intern for the U.S. Department of Labor, Civil Rights Center, where he worked with the Office of Compliance Director to develop a statistical and analytic model to be used by American Job Centers for compliance.
Octavian received his J.D. from Georgetown Law and his B.A. from the University of Maryland.
