Firm Designates Thrive DC as April 2021 Community Engagement Partner
news | April 1, 2021
As part of our continuing efforts to support the DC community through the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond, Hollingsworth LLP designates Thrive DC as our April 2021 Community Engagement Partner. The Firm will donate to Thrive DC and match all employee donations made in April.
Founded in 1979, Thrive DC works to prevent and end homelessness by providing vulnerable individuals a comprehensive range of services to help stabilize their lives. A full service organization, its programming includes providing meals, employment/re-entry training and support, technology training and facilities, substance abuse counseling, therapy, victim services, and a free farmers market. Thrive DC was founded in 1979 as the Dinner Program for Homeless Women (DPHW), a grassroots response to the first major wave of homelessness in downtown Washington. In 1998, it began serving breakfast to both homeless men and women, and started its job training program. In 2007, Thrive DC introduced its formal case management and educational programming.
During the pandemic, Thrive DC has adjusted programming to meet the needs of its client base and ensure that no one falls through the cracks. Among other things, Thrive DC has provided over 153,000 meals, delivered over 40,500 grocery boxes, provided remote mental and emotional support, continued substance abuse counseling, and published multiple articles raising awareness of the housing crisis affecting the District of Columbia.
It is our hope that members of the Washington, DC legal community and the DC business community at large will recognize the value of Thrive DC’s mission and join in the commitment to provide meaningful support.
