Following a three-week bench trial in the U.S. District Court of New Jersey led by Hollingsworth LLP trial lawyers, The Chemours Company, DuPont de Nemours, and Corteva Agriscience favorably resolved all environmental and other claims brought by the State of New Jersey. The State had sought natural resource and other damages related to legacy contamination at the companies’ current and former operating sites in New Jersey (Chambers Works, Parlin, Pompton Lakes, and Repauno). The clients brought Hollingsworth LLP into these cases just five months before the first phases of a planned, multi-phase trial. The trial team successfully exposed the contradicting theories underlying the State’s allegations and the key deficiencies in the State’s expert testimony, significantly driving down the value and laying the groundwork for resolution of the State’s claims.
