Kate Granruth practices in the firm’s Complex Litigation, Pharmaceutical & Medical Device, and Products Liability & Toxic Torts groups. Her responsibilities include, but are not limited to, motions drafting, witness preparation, drafting deposition outlines, and analyzing discovery documents for the firm’s litigation matters. Her passion for litigation extends to her pro bono practice, through which she advocates for those seeking asylum via the immigration court process.

Kate graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she was Managing Editor of the Virginia Journal of Social Policy and the Law, a student participant in the Innocence Project Clinic and the Environmental Law and Community Engagement Clinic, a board member for the William Minor Lile Moot Court competition, and she won the First Year Legal Research & Writing Best Brief Award. Prior to joining the firm, she was a law clerk at Equal Rights Advocates, a legal research assistant at Southern Environmental Law Center, and an intern at the Maxine Platzer Lynn Women’s Center. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and received a Bachelor of Arts, with distinction, in English and Women, Gender and Sexuality studies from the University of Virginia. Kate was a member of the firm’s 2023 Summer Associate class.

When not working, Kate enjoys reading, creative writing, and exploring the city to try to find her new favorite brunch spot. A proud “double Hoo,” Kate can also be found talking about, watching, and cheering on the Virginia Cavaliers sports teams.
