Hollingsworth LLP is pleased to announce the promotion of Joseph F. Altieri, Shannon N. Proctor, and David I. Schifrin to partners of the firm.

Joe Altieri has a record of success in representing large corporations in complex bet-the-company litigation. He is skilled at simplifying the complexities of products liability litigation into straightforward themes that effectively communicate his clients’ stories to juries and judges across the country. He has extensive experience in all aspects of trial preparation and has honed a specialty in preparing and defending company and expert witnesses for deposition and trial. He served as an intern for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, the Federal Public Defender’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, and for The Honorable Judge Rainey Brant of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Joe received his J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown Law, where he was vice-president of the Student Bar Association, development editor of the Journal of Gender and the Law, received the Alan Goldstein Memorial Award for exceptional client advocacy, and was awarded the Dean’s Certificate in recognition of “outstanding service to the Georgetown Law community.” He received his Bachelor of Business Administration, magna cum laude, from the University of Miami. Joe is a member of the District of Columbia LGBTQ+ Bar Association.

Shannon Proctor brings her decade-plus experience in the pharmaceutical industry to her practice defending Fortune 500 companies in pharmaceutical products liability/personal injury litigation in both federal and state courts across the country. She leads the Women Attorneys of Hollingsworth community group and the firm’s Making Justice Real campaign to support Legal Aid DC. Prior to joining the firm, Shannon worked in a global FDA practice where she advised clients on various FDA regulatory matters. She clerked for the Honorable Deborah A. Robinson at the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and at the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, Office of Special Masters. She received her J.D. from Emory University School of Law, where she was an associate justice on the Emory University Constitutional Council, represented indigent clients in civil matters as a member of AmeriCorps, and received the Dean’s Public Service Award. She received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Jacksonville University. Shannon is a member of the American Bar Association, where she serves as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Landslide® Magazine, and is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. She is a member of the Defense Research Institute.

David Schifrin brings with him extensive experience in all aspects of complex civil litigation, including initial fact workup, motions practice, large scale discovery, and taking, preparing, and defending corporate and expert witnesses at deposition and trial. As a seasoned litigator, he has a proven record of success representing his clients in both state and federal courts across the country. Prior to joining the firm, David worked as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Anthony C. Epstein at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Previously, he served as an Assistant Attorney General at the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia, Civil Litigation Division, where he defended the District of Columbia in civil lawsuits involving personal injury and constitutional claims. David received his J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown Law, where he was staff editor of the Journal of National Security Law & Policy. He graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with College Honors and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. David is a member of the American Bar Association.
