Marchello Gray is a key member of the firm’s Complex Litigation, Pharmaceutical & Medical Device, and Products Liability & Toxic Torts practice groups where he represents multiple Global 500 chemical and drug corporations. Bringing a real-world sense to the legal issues and problems faced by these companies in a wide range of matters, Marchello has an instinctive ability to unravel the complexities of mass tort litigation into simple, straightforward themes that effectively convey our clients’ stories to judges and juries.

Representing corporate defendants in serial mass tort litigation, federal multidistrict litigation, individual state court proceedings, and coordinated statewide litigation, Marchello is experienced with all facets of the litigation process. This experience includes coordinating company-wide electronic discovery document collection and production; evidentiary and dispositive motions practice; the preparation for and defense of depositions of corporate representatives, corporate fact witnesses, and expert witnesses; defending mediation; and trial. As an integral part of the firm’s Roundup litigation team, Marchello has specialized in developing the company’s science-based defense strategy and has worked extensively with the expert witnesses on report preparation, deposition testimony, and trial testimony.

Marchello’s other notable experience includes:

  • Representing a large public utility in a multi-plaintiff lawsuit resulting from the deadly explosion of an underground natural gas pipeline
  • Defending against all matter of legal claims involving FDA-regulated products, including products liability claims involving ocular drugs, oncology drugs, and contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging

  • Playing an integral part in preparing the defense of automobile and automotive part manufacturers in wrongful death cases alleging vehicle design defects
  • Representing several collegiate athletic programs in NCAA compliance investigations and subsequent hearings before the NCAA Committee on Infractions

Prior to joining the firm, Marchello enjoyed success in and out of the courtroom:

  • After eliciting helpful testimony regarding alternate cause, co-exposures, and the lack of damages from several plaintiffs at deposition, he successfully negotiated a very favorable settlement on behalf of a chemical manufacturer in a multi-plaintiff toxic tort case alleging various health effects from airborne emissions from a paper processing plant.
  • He served as a member of a firm’s trial team that defended a large corporate client in a catastrophic wrongful death action stemming from an industrial plan accident. This team successfully obtained a multi-million dollar verdict for the client in the subsequent indemnity suit seeking reimbursement from the deceased contractor’s employer.

Considering service and outreach to be a mandate for his life, Marchello enjoys spending time in service to the residents at the Central Union Mission men’s shelter, where he is able to help meet the needs of some of the capital’s most vulnerable citizens. When not working or volunteering, Marchello has an appreciation for athletics and supports all men’s and women’s professional sports teams in the DC area.
